Connect with automatic setting take more time than connect with manual setting. On automatic Wi-Fi setting, the machine will communicate with Gateway to get the available IP (Internet Protocol) address on that time but different with manual setting, your machine will tell the Gateway to set your IP that you currently set the configuration without making the Gateway to resolve the available IP for you.

All you need to do is change the IP address in your Wi-Fi Connection Properties but before that, you must know what is the Gateway’s IP address. To do that, you must connect first to that network with automatic setting and for the next time you want to connect you can set it manually. After successful connected, follow the steps below:

1) Go to Start button and click Run…
2) Type “cmd” (without a quote) then press Enter or click OK button to run the Command Prompt.
3) In it, type IPCONFIG to check the Wi-Fi LAN Gateway IP address it should be like this
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
(Note: the Gateway IP address may be vary depend on the router’s configuration)
4) Minimize the Command Prompt window for your reference to set the Gateway IP number in the IP Configuration later or if you able to memorize it, you can close that program.
*** Before you want to set the setting, I have to tell you that your current connection with the router will be reconnected, but do not worry, because when you done setup with your own configuration, the next time you connect with that network, it would be ease and fast.
*** The setting only work with that network and you have to set another setting when you wish to connect to the different network unless the Gateway IP address on the other network you want to connect same with the current one.
5) Go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > WLAN (your Wi-FI LAN connection) or Start > Connect To > WLAN (if you have the shorcut) or go to your systray/trayicon and double-click the WLAN Connection icon > “Change advanced setting”

6) Select the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” then click Properties button. It should pop up the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties”
7) Click “Use the following IP address” radio button. Fill the “IP address” with your want-to-be IP for example 192.168.1.239 (Note: depend on subnet mask router setting, if its setting 255.255.255.0, you can change any number between 2-253 on the “.0″ column, if its has 255.255.0.0, you able to change to different number in two column of “.0″ — i.e : 192.168.239.239. Usually the router only let you change the last column only like I mention in the first example)
8) Type in the Gateway’s number that you get from Command Prompt back then, 192.168.1.1
9) On the “Use the following DNS server addresses:” just let it unfill, because the router will retrieve the address for the network.
10) Click OK, then click OK again on the WLAN Properties.

And you are done setting your configuration manually. This can be applied to the Infrastructre or Ad-hoc network and it depends on the submask (subnet mask), usually the ad-hoc / peer-to-peer connection, its submask is 255.255.0.0 and this tell you you able to change any number like I mentioned above (step 7).

Good Luck~

First attempt failed, and here is the easy weezy steps I mentioned about:

1) Get a copy of new Wordpress version, the latest version of Wordpress when this article is release is 2.5.1 (NOTE: Wordpress version of my blog is 2.1.2)
2) Backup my wordpress via Cpanel and download it to my computer.
3) Go to the Wordpress folder in the backup zip. Copy the wp-config.php file and wp-content folder.
4) Extract new Wordpress version on the other folder where you will upload it later. Paste the file and folder you copied back then.
5) Now you can upload new Wordpress to your webhost.
6) Go to your Wordpress admin panel, (for my blog the link is like this
http://must-get.com/blog/wp-admin
) then the new Wordpress will prompt you to upgrade your database…. & Done!

Well, I hope it will work for you as well. Good luck~ ;-)

Besides the local overwhelming response, this festival also attracted tourists mainly from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, as well as other nearby countries.

In the last few years, several foreign cultural bodies from countries like China and Indonesia also performed cultural shows to further promote the festival. There was also participation from the neighbouring state of Sabah. (www.sarawaktourism.com)

This time, the festival will be held on June 27 until July 05. Let’s get down to Sibu and experience the excitement. Cheers!~

Went to PUSPAKOM, bringging old insurance with me because my latest insurance lost along with my greencard. Thank God it still can be use if not, I will go to the JPJ to get some document that I was so sure about it. :-(

After checking serial number on the bike’s body and the chasis number on the engine. I went to JPJ to settle down my roadtax. It takes one hour in there filling some forms. Then I was instructed to see the officer to get a confirmation for the document issued by PUSPAKOM.

After all that I got my new greencard. The next day I go to the shop where I bought the motorbike. I let them renew my roadtax and insurance. They charged me RM44.40 (new insurance). My last insurance was Tahan Insurance but they got me new one (Alliance Insurance).

Now I can go out without being affraid to be detained by JPJ or Police. Last month I got summoned RM150.00 because got detained in the police’s roadblock in Kuching because of my roadtax is expired. ;-(

Then I deleted the VMware Server and stick to VMware Player for now while waiting for VMware Server version 2 stable release. So, I don’t need the administrator that I just created. I’m going to delete it on “Users Account” in Control Panel. But no option given to delete the administrator level account. After that I go at “System Properties” (also in Control Panel) go to “Advanced” tab, and click the “Settings” button on “User Profiles”.

It’s a bad idea when we have not enough web space right? My blog just 10MB only because I just started blogging. Well, I think I need to upgrade it at least 30MB to make my wordpress update with Fantastico without doing a mess next time. So, to whom that want to buy webhosting, buy at least 30MB.

For now, I just stick to the old version untill I upgrade the webspace or maybe moving to another webhosting. And wish someone not gonna hack it. :-/

To save more hard disk space, use compress option on the Drive Properties. For example, you want to compress Local Disk C,
Simply right-click on the Local Disk C icon, and select Properties, on the General tab, at the bottom of it, you can see the Check/Uncheck Box, so check(tick) the box that says
"Compress drive to save disk space"
.

After that click apply, then one dialog will pop-uped and apply it to the folder(s),subfolder(s) and file(s).
It may takes some times to apply it when your drive full of files or barely fat-up ;-) . But it will gives you a satisfaction when you see your drive became more spacious and ready to be fed with more files.

For the ease of reference (the steps):
My Computer -> (Right-click) — Properties -> Check the “Compress drive to save disk space” option -> (Click) Apply button -> Apply the changes to this folder, subfolders and files -> (Click) Ok button.

P/S: I apply this method with my Windows XP SP2 with NTFS partition. Not sure about the FAT(32) file system, but, you can give a try with it and maybe give me your feedback.
